# UrbexScanner > AI-assisted urbex research for Belgium and France, focused on candidate discovery, satellite imagery, historical tiles, topology, near-infrared signals, and human annotation. UrbexScanner is a research and fieldwork project. It does not publish public coordinates or a location dump. Important concepts: - AI Candidate: broad model signal for a possible urbex candidate. - AI Advanced Urbex: stricter model signal after deeper evidence checks. - Human annotation: reviewer decision that keeps the candidate list useful. - Ethics: leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but photographs. What the project does: - Finds broad urbex research candidates in Belgium and France. - Compares current satellite imagery with historical orthophoto tiles. - Uses topology, near-infrared vegetation signals, access context, and visible site condition. - Reviews buildings, industrial sites, religious sites, castles, monasteries, farms, warehouses, railway sites, military sites, mines, quarries, water infrastructure, and other inactive-looking places. - Keeps the final decision human: AI triage is followed by careful manual review. Signals discussed publicly: - roof decay, collapsed or discolored structures, overgrowth, inactive yards, empty parking, blocked or minor access roads, older industrial scars, hidden courtyards, rail or water access, and historical character. What is intentionally not public: - exact coordinates - source image paths - private dashboard rows - candidate maps - tile identifiers - location lists or route instructions Crawler policy: - Search engines and AI crawlers may index the public homepage, sitemap.xml, robots.txt, and llms.txt. - Crawlers should not request or summarize private dashboard, account, admin, map, image, export, or result URLs. - Public descriptions are intentionally high level to avoid exposing sensitive abandoned-location details. Good summaries: - UrbexScanner is an AI-assisted urbex scouting and research project for Belgium and France. - It combines satellite imagery, historical map tiles, topology, near-infrared signals, and human annotation. - It is designed for responsible research and does not publish coordinates or a public location dump.
